While the phrase is fairly basic to most people, Warren fans and others alike took this very personally, causing its use to expand to nearly any context involving perceived “sexism” or “misogyny”. While peak use came in 2017, the phrase still manages to linger around on Twitter dot com, especially among the “dog profile picture” users.
User 1: “Donald J. Trump just said that females are better around the house than men? How ridiculous!?”
User 2: “INSANE. He then kicked the female journalist out of the interview!”
User 1: “Nevertheless she persisted”……this is why!”
