a phrase used by an individual who has just discovered that an idea near and dear to them was rejected by a group of people. Often used in response to elections, poll data, economic indicators, and other information/results based on a given population, the speaker fails to consider that their own opinions may have been flawed themselves, placing the blame on ‘humanity’ instead.
