a commonly asked and ‘semi-rhetorical’ question often used by journalists that indicate they are about to suggest something wildly inconvenient, highly taboo, uniquely smutty, annoyingly pedantic, or otherwise degenerate, to their audience. While the author has no actual interest in hearing how people would respond to the question, framing the headline like this will allow them to plausibly deny the responsibility of actually having that particular viewpoint.
