representing what used to be a sizable group in 2016, the modern use of ‘Bernie Bro’ simply serves as a lazy and dismissive statement used by those in the party who dislike a more-Progressive idea shared by someone who supports/supported Bernie Sanders. Often cited as “sexists” by Hillary supporters, the only proof of these allegations lies in the fact that they chose a male candidate over a female.
While the post-Sanders campaign of 2016 saw large amounts of men leave the movement all the way to 2020, the use of the phrase then became less and less applicable, hardly stopping Blue Check Twitter from using it inaccurately.
